Are You Playing to Win?
The Dallas Mavericks certainly were on April first, when Adexa and IBM held their "Playing to Win" seminar at the home of the Mavericks, the American Airlines Center. The Mav's beat New Orleans 95-86 that night, but the most memorable on-court action was a shoving match between Dallas owner Mark Cuban and the referee. The crowd had forgotten that it was April Fool's Day and cheered Cuban like he had just hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to win the game. Meanwhile, in the Adexa/IBM suite overlooking center court, a live demo of Adexa's Supply Chain Planning solution was taking place. It was a command performance for one of the seminar attendees, who was amazed by the fact that Adexa solutions all run on the same platform, sharing a single data model. At the seminar, this was showcased with Adexa's Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning solution, which seamlessly integrates multiple applications to improve the accuracy of forecasting and the ability of the enterprise to react profitably to fluctuations in demand. The Supply Chain Planning solution shares the same data model and ensures supply requirements are synchronized with on-hand inventories, forecasts and real demand. The afternoon seminar featured a presentation by AMD's Senior Manager of Supply Chain Initiatives, Dan Kellogg. He spoke about the operational and financial improvements experienced by AMD, a $5.6 Billion manufacturer of integrated circuits, since it implemented Adexa, and he covered why they chose Adexa over i2 and Oracle. Without specifying which company was which, Mr. Kellogg said one vendor didn't meet AMD's requirements, and that he couldn't find successful implementation stories for the other. The presentation wrapped up with a series of comments from within the AMD user community. One user calculated that Adexa will save AMD more than $7 Million annually with obsolete inventory reduction. Another spoke of increasing revenues by as much as $2 Million/week by improving AMD's response time to new demand. And another spoke of savings of $300 K annually with the integrated back-end capacity planning capabilities delivered by Adexa. The Dallas seminar was the first of several regional events that Adexa will be co-presenting with world-class partners in the coming months. The next one is entitled "Rapid Response to Volatile Demand," featuring Maytag's Doug Werthman and Don Jensen from CF Industries. It will be held in Chicago on May first, co-presented by The Revere Group. Full details are available on the Adexa website.
